Brando Update

March, 2009 - January, 2010

Brando continues to do well and is blasto-free.

February 8, 2009:

Brando's antigen test results 0.16 (Negative) HURRAY!

All the prayers were answered.  Thank you to everyone who thought of us during this time.

We'll continue on our journey to raise awareness of blastomycosis, and with God all things are possible!

Never give up!!!!

Thank you MiraVista Diagnostics for the testing:  http://www.miravistalabs.com/services.aspx

February 3, 2009:

I took Brando to the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WIVRC) Monday night for the Antigen-Urine Test that was sent to MiraVista Diagnostics.  The test results should be back by Friday.  We're praying for the numbers to come in low which would mean a negative.

Thank you Dr. Varani for being our angel.  The entire staff at WIVRC has always been great.  I always know that Brando's getting the best top-notch quality care.   They saved his life in 2007.  www.wivrc.com.

I'll update when I get the results but for now Brando is doing good.  He is his usual self, and I just thank God for another day with him.  I am truly blessed!

January 26, 2009:

Brando was taken to the emergency vet Monday night.  He has a sore on this leg and it tested very HIGH in bacteria.  He's on medication Cephalexin 3x day for 10 days.

The toxologist reported that because of the HIGH levels of bacteria in the wound that he isn't ruling out blasto.

Brando seemed to be doing well but this a.m. he is limping and just not himself.  Tomorrow at the Pet Expo the emergency vets will be there with their booth and I'll talk to them.

I'm putting a note in all the bags I hand out from our Canine Blastomycosis Awareness booth about Brando and asking for prayers.  I did say in the note to check the website for an update on Brando as I plan on bringing him with me to the Pet Expo.  He's a big star as are the other survivors but we continue to pray for those that didn't survive.
